Introduction
In today’s fast-paced and high-pressure world, the idea of “lying down” is being reinterpreted as a way to recalibrate one’s rhythm of life. Rather than representing withdrawal, it signifies a conscious pause—an opportunity to reconnect with oneself and refocus on what truly matters.
The visual identity is inspired by human reflections, incorporating frosted glass and mosaic elements. By softening edges and blurring boundaries, it creates a layered and ambiguous visual experience that reflects the fluid relationship between external reality and inner perception. The primary colors, orange and blue, reinforce this concept: orange represents the release of light and the concentration of energy, while blue conveys calmness and stillness, illustrating the transition from rest to reactivation.
Conceptually, the exhibition draws on the principles of minimalism and wabi-sabi. By removing the unnecessary, the design returns to its essence, embracing imperfection and impermanence as part of a process of inner balance. “Lie Down” represents a moment of pause and reorganization, while “Light On” suggests renewal and the reemergence of inner energy.
Through a diverse range of works, students from the Department of Industrial Design at Chang Gung University respond to contemporary conditions, demonstrating how design can mediate between rationality and emotion while engaging with an ever-changing world.
