Between Mortise and Tenon

Introduction

The exhibition theme, “Between Mortise and Tenon,” draws inspiration from traditional woodworking joints, symbolizing connection and fusion. It conveys the intersection of craftsmanship and creativity, logic and emotion, past and future. Curated by the second graduating class of Fu Jen Catholic University’s Interior Design Department, this exhibition inherits the wisdom and experience of our predecessors while integrating contemporary design language to express our unique design attitude and creativity. The visual identity features a blue-to-yellow gradient, representing hope and balance, while geometric and fluid elements mimic the collaborative beauty of mortise and tenon structures, paying tribute to tradition while inspiring future possibilities. Blending geometric abstraction with neo-art deco aesthetics, the overall style embodies the continuity and innovation of design, echoing the core spirit of “craftsmanship fusion, heritage of skill, and innovative design for a better future.”
