Time Perception

Introduction

Centered around the imagery of a canyon, this design integrates the concept of time perception to embody a profound dialogue between nature and humanity. Inspired by the erosion and sedimentation of canyons over countless years, it symbolizes the passage of time and the accumulation of layered experiences. The primary structure is made of eco-friendly corrugated cardboard, chosen for its lightweight, high plasticity, and recyclability—emphasizing a commitment to environmental sustainability. The façade features undulating lines that mimic the twists and depths of a canyon, allowing visitors to feel as if they are immersed in a natural wonder. Through multi-layered arrangements and precise cutting, the corrugated cardboard reveals textures and shadow variations reminiscent of rock strata, echoing time’s invisible imprint on the natural world. The overall color palette remains in its raw, natural state, highlighting the material’s intrinsic texture as a visual focal point. Light filters through the structure, creating a delicate sense of temporal flow, further enhancing the interplay between space, material, and time. Time is not merely a series of marks on a clock; it is, more importantly, the result of our psychological perception and experience. Our sense of time is influenced by emotions, attention, and life experiences. When we are busy and happy, time seems to fly by; but when we feel bored or anxious, it appears to slow down. Memory also plays a crucial role—rich and meaningful experiences make time feel more concentrated, while monotonous days cause it to feel scattered. Thus, time is not just an objective unit of measurement; it is also a reflection of our emotions and experiences.
